Build a tool library once
Save "6in CMU" or "8ft fence" with its color, weight and measurement settings, and arm it with a number key. Send the set to your other estimator as a file.
Your plans, kept your way
Rollset opens and measures the set on your own machine. Nothing is
uploaded unless you ask for it — so by default there is no server
holding another firm's pricing, and nothing to breach.
Turn backup on and it keeps the drawing set and every measurement on
it, so a restored job comes back as the takeoff, not just the PDF.
There is no cap and no storage tier to move up to. It is an archive
rather than a mirror — clearing a finished job off your laptop to
make room does not clear it out of the backup.
Most takeoff software makes this choice for you, and it always
chooses the cloud. Rollset asks.

Nothing is uploaded, ever. Your drawings and your pricing stay on your
own disk, and no connection is needed to do a day's work.
Or switch on unlimited cloud backup.
Every job copied automatically, with no storage limit and nothing extra
to pay. A laptop stolen off a job site stops being the end of a week's
work — sign in on the new machine and it is all there.
Backup is included in the price and off until
you turn it on. You are asked once, on your first job, and you
can change your mind — or leave one sensitive bid out of it — whenever
you like.
Either way, your work stays on your computer. Backup adds a copy; it
never takes the original away.
Don't take our word for the arithmetic
You should not trust a takeoff tool's own claims about its numbers,
least of all from a company you have not heard of.
So here is a real drawing set to download, and every correct answer
published beside it — areas, lengths and counts. Open it in Rollset,
set the scale off each sheet's graphic bar, and measure. Five minutes
and you will know, rather than hope.
The set deliberately puts the site plan at a different scale to the
floor plans, because that is how sets really arrive and it is the
commonest way a takeoff goes wrong.

What Rollset doesn't do
Worth knowing before you spend an afternoon on it. These are deliberate
omissions, not things that are nearly finished.
Live collaboration on the same set. No shared session with other people marking up alongside you.
Slip-sheeting and managed sets. You can compare two revisions; Rollset does not manage a set's revision history for you.
Batch processing. No scripted headers, footers or stamps across hundreds of files at once.
PDF form creation and digital signatures. Rollset fills nothing in and seals nothing.
3D PDF and model viewing. Flat sheets only.
